Bail denied for grenade murder accused

His next court appearance is in October.

THE courts have denied bail to Joel Mbuso Mahoase (44) who allegedly threw a hand grenade at his wife, Lesego, which resulted in her death several hours after the incident on Sunday, 30 August.

“Mahoase remains in custody at Westville prison. The case has been postponed to Thursday, 15 October for further investigation,” said Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy.

The incident, which led to Lesego’s subsequent death, occurred in the couple’s Karridale Drive, Shulton Park home.
Mahoase who was on the run handed himself to Toti police on Wednesday, 2 September. He made his first court appearance on Thursday, 3 September and for a bail application on Friday, 11 September.

He was denied bail earlier in the week. He is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of explosives.
