
POLICE arrested nine people who were terrorising the community of KwaMakhutha and surroundings in a 24-hour operation, which started on Thursday, 24 September.
“The operation yielded positive results. Those arrested, aged between 18 and 36 years-old were charged for various crimes such as house robberies, housebreakings, malicious damage to property and theft,” said provincial police spokesman, Maj Thulani Zwane.
They will appear in the Umbumbulu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 September.
The arrests have been welcomed by the provincial police commissioner. ‘We also appeal to the community not to buy any goods suspected to be stolen and anyone who is seen selling suspected stolen goods to report it to the police immediately,’ said Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
