A Pink Party Zumbathon raised over R5,000 for Khanya Hospice.
The Zumbathon was held on 31 October on Scottburgh main beach by Ultimate Dance Fitness and Shereen Paul, a Zumba fitness instructor.
“Shereen, together with her members, hosted this Zumba beach event in support of cancer awareness,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald. “In remembering those who have lost their battle to cancer, thinking of those who are fighting cancer and honouring those who have survived cancer, we salute you.”
The one-and-a-half hour event was a great success and ‘fun on the beach’. The beach workout was inspired by international Latin music and was enjoyed by all participants and spectators.
“We have an amazing group of committed women who have contributed to our success in a tremendous way,” said Shereen. “A big thank you to all the women who so diligently assisted in making this event successful. Now that’s women moving forward.”
The committee decided that all proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Khanya Hospice for the work it is doing in the area of cancer awareness and caring for cancer patients. Shereen handed over R5,126 to Neil, who was also on the beach at 6.30am to join in the fun.
Due to its success, it will become an annual event.
“To all the Pink Party Zumbathon supporters out there, we thank you for your support and participation,” said Neil. “Without you this would not have been possible. A big thank you also to Illovo Sugar Sezela for its contribution. We look forward to your continuous support towards this great cause next year.”
