Two-year-old dies after being hit by car

He suddenly ran across the road and landed in front of a vehicle.

A two-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle on the KwaMakutha link road from the M37 in Amanzimtoti on Tuesday morning, 31 May.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha said reports from the scene indicate the boy was standing next to the roadway with his grandmother at about 7.20am when he suddenly ran across the road and landed in front of a vehicle.

Paramedics found the boy lying next to the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked fervently for almost an hour to try to resuscitate the child. Despite all their efforts, the child was declared dead at the scene,” said Botha.
