Truck, taxi crash claims two lives

Two people died when a truck and a minibus crashed on the R603 in the Eston area near Umbumbulu this morning (Thursday, 18 August).

Paramedics from the KZN Department of Health’s emergency medical services, several private ambulance services and officials from the local emergency services responded to the crash site.

Paramedics treated eight patients who had sustained critical and serious injuries, before transporting them to several hospitals in the Pietermaritzburg area.

The exact cause of the crash is not known at this stage and is being investigated by the police.
