Lions focus on fun mornings with physically challenged

The project includes people with Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, amputees, paraplegics and the hearing impaired.

The Lions Club of Kingsburgh plans to host a morning of fun and entertainment for people within the community who are physically challenged, to take place every month, beginning in September.

“The purpose of the group is to provide these people with much-needed stimuli for the mind and body by means of music, dancing, ball games, memory games or puzzles,” said Kingsburgh Lions president, Helen Toward.

“We are focussed on families who have loved ones at home who are not placed in a specialised care facility. It also creates a social environment for those with similar challenges.”

The project will include people who suffer from Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, amputees, paraplegics and the hearing impaired. “We request that our physically challenged guests are accompanied by their caregivers.”

“If there’s no reply when you call, please leave your name and contact number. We look forward to serving our community,” said Toward.
