
A woman was hijacked in Commercial Road in Toti CBD on Monday, 5 December.
According to Amanzimtoti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy, the victim stopped in front of a motor spares shop at about 8.10am.
“She was already outside her vehicle, an ice-blue Range Rover, when she was approached by three unknown men,” said Capt Van Der Spuy.
Two men were armed with firearms, which they pointed at her and demanded the vehicle keys. They attempted to force her back inside the vehicle but she begged them to leave her and handed them the keys.
They jumped inside the vehicle and drove off. Her handbag, with purse, two cellphones, cash and a laptop were inside the vehicle.
The total value of property taken is estimated at R1,108,080.
The hijackers were on foot. No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained. A case of hijacking is being investigated.
