Warner Beach Subway to be spruced up on Heritage Day

Community members and local businesses are invited to admire the latest additions of artwork and lend a hand where they can.

WARNER Beach Subway upgrade’s progress will be both celebrated and improved this upcoming Heritage Day on Saturday, 24 September.

Community members and local businesses are invited to admire the latest additions of artwork and lend a hand where they can.

“We will celebrate the subway’s clean up that started two years ago on Saturday,” said Romy Wentzel of Sapphire Coast Tourism. “A few of us will continue to work at the subway by painting light poles and tending to the gardens, among other things.”

The subway received an extremely generous donation towards the painting of country flags and the latest mural of the octopus. Paint was supplied by Sapphire Coast Tourism and artwork was created by Umkomaas artist, Lee Weigl.

“As the painting has been completed, we would like to start working on the new garden,” said Romy. “Sapphire Coast Tourism urges local businesses to come on board with donations of plants, compost, rocks and such.”
