Athlone Park burglar bagged by dogged CCPO responder

He gave a suspicious explanation and was held until back-up arrived.

A housebreaker was nabbed by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) after he stole a lawnmower and shovels from a house in Linscott Road, Athlone Park on Friday, 5 January.

The items were recovered in Orient Park by CCPO/Blue Security patrolman, Musa Ngubane. The thief had already concealed the items but he fitted the description that the CCPO had received. Questioned by Ngubane, he gave a suspicious explanation and was held until back-up arrived, despite struggling to escape.

After more questioning, he eventually took the CCPO officers to a property on the boundary of Orient Park where he had hidden the stolen property.
