JUST IN: Kitesurfer taken to hospital after crash into Warner Beach rocks

Dennis Gregory is known as a ‘legend’ in local surfing circles.

A 76-year-old kitesurfer was injured when a gust of wind sent him careening into the rocks and fence at Baggies Beach in Warner Beach on Wednesday afternoon, 12 December.

Kitesurfing buddy Marius Barkhuizen said Dennis Gregory, who is known as a ‘legend’ in local surfing circles, can usually be seen out on the waves at Baggies Beach “whenever the wind is up”.

“Unfortunately a gust of wind caught him by surprise. He sustained a head gash and paramedics transported him to hospital for further care and tests.”

Lifeguards carry the injured kitesurfer.
