Primary school’s weekend rugby action
The morning served as a grand opening of the school's rugby field and past learners and friends of the school were invited to be a part of the festivities.
SATURDAY, 8 June saw Amanzimtoti Primary School take on Hillcrest Primary School in rugby matches and a netball game, through which great fun was had, experience gained and sports skills fine-tuned.
The morning served as a grand opening of the school’s rugby field and past learners and friends of the school were invited to be a part of the festivities.
The U13A netball team played a great game, but unfortunately lost 12-2. The U9 rugby teams were triumphant over their Hillcrest opponents, the A team winning 2-0 and the B team 7-1. The U10A unfortunately lost 5-20, but the U11A made up for the loss by achieving a 12-5 win. Under 13B lost 0-12 and while putting up an excellent fight, the U13A lost 14-22.

Running through the long tunnel of supporters, Amanzimtoti Primary School’s first team was led onto the playing field by influential coach, Johann Laufs.
It was no one other than Laufs who introduced rugby to the local primary school and on Saturday was his final rugby day with the school.
