On a mission to uplift and empower women

Juggling her family life and career has proven to be simple task for Demetriou, who dedicates quality time to her loved ones over the weekends.

“Having a positive mind can change your outlook on life,” said general manger of Netcare Kingsway Hospital, Annatjie Demetriou who hopes to inject a dose of compassion, care and team work into the community and work environment.

The 54-year-old, who is a registered nurse, accepted the position of general manager almost four years ago and could not be more delighted.  Working in a female-driven environment allows the passionate individual to uplift and empower others.

“I have a deep passion for inspiring others, and it is something I am proud of.  My greatest vision is to see affordable health care for each and every person who needs it.  The biggest challenge that I face daily is providing care to patients cost effectively.  I try to assist each patient according to their individual needs.  However, the most rewarding part of my job, is the satisfaction of seeing the difference that our care is making to the patients,” said Demetriou.

Taking inspiration from those around her, Demetriou’s back bone is the team of wonderful and dedicated individuals who work beside her, as well as her loving and supportive family.  Juggling her family life and career has proven to be simple task for Demetriou, who dedicates quality time to her loved ones over the weekends.

“Toti has been home to me for almost 15 years now and I love this community of people.  I often try to visit community organisations such as schools and old age homes as a way to offer medical and health talks to those who need it. Being a registered nurse also helps me interact better with the community,” she said.

The creative being describes herself as a positive, confident person.
