A high speed chase and shoot-out ensued with an armed gang and members of PT Alarms Tactical in KwaMakhutha recently. The incident occurred after an eagle-eyed member noticed a vehicle that was on a ‘bolo’ report in the vicinity of a mall.
“The vehicle was recovered in KwaMakhutha and the suspects fled when they saw the fleet in pursuit,” said spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy.
It is alleged that the patrolling unit noticed the suspicious vehicle and realised it was the same vehicle reported. The suspects noticed the vehicle and took off.
“A high speed chase ensued and the suspects headed towards KwaMakhutha. The suspects opened fire and the member returned fire. Back up units arrived quickly on scene. The suspects fled into KwaMakhutha and where they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police responded to the scene. It was determined that the vehicle was used in the commission of other crimes.”
Investigations are ongoing. The member was unharmed in the shoot-out and he is commended for his bravery under fire.
