International Nurses Day was observed on Wednesday, 12 May.
Khanya Hospice celebrated the occasion by treating its nursing staff to breakfast or lunch. According to the organisation’s CEO, Neil McDonald this is a special day aimed at focusing on nurses.
“We try to spoil and treat them and make sure they know we acknowledge and appreciate the work that they are doing,” he said.
“We always try to get them a goodie bag to show our gratitude for the wonderful work that they so tirelessly do everyday.”
Hospice’s nursing staff offer free palliative care and support.
“We have an holistic approach in our patients care program and acknowledge their individual belief systems. We are a non-profit organisation and able to do what we do because of the goodwill and donations from the community.”
