Greatest shoal on earth made its way to Sapphire Coast

Whether you love sardines or hate the netting of them, there’s no doubt that the incredible shoal of sardines is huge boost to the local economy.
The greatest shoal on earth made its way to Sapphire Coast on Monday, 7 June. The first successful netting took place at Winklespruit Main Beach.
“The annual phenomenon is sparked by the entry of large shoals of sardines into the waters of southern Kwazulu-Natal during the winter months. Its a perfect time of the year to explore the Sapphire Coast with generally pleasing weather conditions, wide, sandy beaches and plenty of things to do,” said Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Romy Wenzel.
