Motorist dies in Isipingo drive-by shooting

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently unknown.

SAPS and PT Alarms Armed Response unit responded to a scene of a drive-by shooting at Platt Drive in Isipingo Hills on Thursday afternoon, August 4.

A statement released by PT Alarms indicated that the victim, a male driving a white Mercedes Benz, died in the shooting.

“It is alleged that the driver of the Mercedes crashed into a truck. Thereafter an SUV stopped and one male, armed with a firearm, alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the driver of the Mercedes and fled. The driver sustained gunshot wounds to the head and face and died at the scene,” it said.

The police are still processing the scene and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown and subject to police investigation.
