Illovo landfill site opens for refuse disposal

Residents are urged to take their domestic refuse to the Illovo landfill site until normal waste collection resumes.

ETHEKWINI Municipality announced it has opened some landfill sites to the public for refuse disposal on March 8.

In a statement, eThekwini said Amanzimtoti and the surrounding areas’ residents can take their domestic refuse to the Illovo landfill site at Lower Illovo.

“Residents are allowed to bring a bakkie-load of waste until normal collection resumes. Clean-up operations are being conducted by the City, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We appeal for patience during this time,” it said.

Operational hours for the Illovo landfill site are:
Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 16:30
Saturday and Sunday: 07:00 – 15:30.
