DSW staff have returned to work and started collecting waste as of today.

DOMESTIC refuse collection resumed according to the Wednesday roster today (March 13) after eThekwini Municipality’s Department of Solid Waste (DSW) staff went back to work. Refuse had not been collected since an illegal strike by the workers started on February 27.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge said DSW staff will collect refuse placed out while also attending to the backlog created by the strike.

“The volume could hamper progress, the result of which will be determined at the end of the shift. They will continue collecting per the normal collection schedule,” he said.

He asked residents to stop disposing of refuse at the Civic Road circus site.
