PT Alarms’ Dhevan Govindasamy said the owner had left the car in the parking lot, and when they came back, it was missing.

“The tracking company was contacted, and the tracking device was activated. Following a long trace, the vehicle was recovered in KwaMakhutha,” he said.

He thanked the metro police and other units that helped with the recovery.

In another incident, a Toyota Etios that had been stolen from a shopping centre on Arbour Road, Athlone Park, was recovered recently. In a statement, ET Rapid Response said that after information was received about the theft, its tactical response team, together with Matrix, Amanzimtoti SAPS and the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti, immediately mobilised in search of the car.

“Due to a combined search effort and following updates from the tracking company, the car was successfully recovered. Well done to all involved in the search,” read the statement.
