Gardening project launched in Isipingo

AN INNOVATIVE aeroponic garden hub was launched at the Isipingo Clinic in Citrus Drive, Orient Hills, on August 20. This groundbreaking initiative promises to make a significant impact in the community by providing fresh produce to the most vulnerable patients and volunteer staff.

Ward 90 councillor Shad Nowbuth, who was part of the launch, said the project uses a cutting-edge method of cultivation, where vegetable roots are suspended in midair, reducing water usage and increasing crop yields.
The sustainable approach differs from traditional hydroponic gardens, where roots rely on soil and water.
“The primary goal of this hub is to promote healthy lifestyles among clinic patients by providing them with access to fresh, nutritious produce. It has the potential to transform the lives of those who need it most, and its launch marks an exciting milestone for the community,” said Nowbuth.
There are no costs associated with the project for either the beneficiaries or the clinic.
