Early Sassa grant payment dates in April
Sassa beneficiaries will receive their grants a bit earlier next month. It has also been announced that grant increases will take effect in April.
THE South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced that payment dates for all grant payments have been moved to earlier dates, while also confirming that the first of this year’s grant increases will take effect in April.

Sassa grant payments are usually paid from the third to the fifth of every month, but April 5 falls on a Saturday, which poses an operational hurdle as payments do not take place over weekends and on public holidays.
During his budget speech earlier this month, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced a significant allocation for social grants for the 2025/26 financial year.
Dates:
• Older persons grant: April 2
• Disability grant: April 3
• Children’s grants: April 4
The following increases will take effect in April:
• Old age (60-74 years) and disability grants increase by R130 to R2 315
• Old age (75+ years) grant increases by R135 to R2 335
• War veterans grant increases by R130 to R2 315
• Care dependency grant increases by R130 to R2 315
• Child support grant increases by R30 to R560
• Foster care grant increases by R70 to R1 250.
