Sassa payment dates for September
Sassa grant beneficiaries who use gold cards have until August 31 to switch to Postbank black cards to continue accessing their grants.
SASSA grant payments will be made on the following dates:
• Older persons grant – September 2
• Disability grant – September 3
• Children’s grants – September 4

Sassa grant beneficiaries who still use gold cards have until August 31 to complete their switch to Postbank black cards to continue accessing their grants. Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako said the Sassa gold cards are being phased out and will no longer work after the deadline. He said beneficiaries who do not complete the migration to Postbank black cards on time risk experiencing disruptions to their payments.
Accordingly, beneficiaries are strongly encouraged not to wait until the September payment dates, or the final days of the migration period, to switch their cards to avoid last-minute queue congestion at Sassa service points and ensure a seamless transition.
For any enquiries or payment-related assistance, beneficiaries are advised to contact the Postbank call centre on 0800 5354 55.

Where to get assistance?
• Sassa offices are located at Umgababa and Umbumbulu. The Umgababa site is at Umnini Thusong Centre, near the Umgababa River bridge. At Umbumbulu, it is located next to the magistrate’s court.
• Postbank black cards can be collected from selected retailers that include Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar stores. Card replacement sites are open from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00.
• Grant beneficiaries can dial 120355# from their mobile phones to locate a nearby site.
• Replacing a card is free of charge, and all that is required is a valid South African ID or a temporary ID.
