Refinery hosts workshop for business owners
The workshop helped businesses learn more about potential supplier and contractor opportunities associated with the refinery's programme.
THE South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC) hosted a successful refinery small, medium, and macro enterprises (SMME) supplier development programme and business registration workshop at its premises in Prospecton on September 17.

The event brought together more than 280 SMMEs and enterprises that signed up to participate.
In a statement, the company formerly known as Sapref, owned by the Central Energy Fund (CEF), said the strong level of interest reflects the importance of providing businesses with information and guidance as the SANPC’s refinery redevelopment programme progresses.
The workshop provided businesses with an opportunity to learn more about potential supplier and contractor opportunities associated with the refinery’s programme. The attendees were guided on business registration, supplier onboarding and compliance requirements.
“The engagement also provided an opportunity for the refinery to listen to the needs, questions and concerns of the SMME and business community,” read the statement.
Given the strong interest received, SANPC said further supplier development and business registration workshops will be held in the near future and details will be communicated through the official CEF and SANPC channels.
The workshop coincided with SANPC achieving 99.62% in national security evaluation for the 2026/2027 financial year, improving from 98.94% in 2025/2026. The company said the achievement reflects the continued commitment of management, the security department, security service providers, employees and key stakeholders to strengthening security controls, protecting critical infrastructure and maintaining a secure operating environment.
