Tariff increase proposal adopted by eThekwini Exco

The resolution will be part of the 2026/27 Integrated Development Plan and Budget before being referred to council for final approval.

THE eThekwini Municipality executive committee met on March 24, and one of the resolutions it adopted was a proposal to increase tariffs for the 2026/2027 financial year.

In a statement, eThekwini said the proposed tariff adjustments are aimed at accelerating service delivery, strengthening infrastructure, and improving the quality of life for residents.

The resolution will be part of the 2026/27 Integrated Development Plan and Budget before being referred to council for final consideration and approval.

Proposed adjustments:

• Electricity – 10.5%
• Water (effective from July 1): Domestic – 15%, non-domestic – 16%
• Sanitation: Domestic – 13%, non-domestic – 14%
• Refuse removal – 13%
• Revenue management deposits – 5%
