“It is alleged the truck driver knocked the female and drove off. The victim is alleged to have been frequently stationed at the spot requesting cash and food donations from motorists. PT Ambulance crews assessed the patient, and she was found to have sustained multiple injuries and was declared deceased at the scene,” said Govindsamy.

The matter has been taken over by Isipingo police for investigation.

In another incident, a female motorist was assessed by paramedics after she was hijacked on October 20 in Lotus Park. Govindsamy said an unconfirmed number of suspects accosted the driver and fled with her vehicle, a Mercedes C180.

“The victim was gravely traumatised and was assessed by PT Ambulance crew,” he said.

A search for the vehicle is underway, and a case of hijacking was opened at the Isipingo Police Station.
