eThekwini south residents brace for extended water outage

The community is urged to use water sparingly as there is presently no timeframe on the restoration of supply.

WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge, provides an update on water supply to eThekwini south wards from Umlazi down to Pennington in the Umdoni municipality.

At 10:45 today, March 29, he said, “Not good news on this Friday morning, as after waking up to renewed reports of water outages, we have received confirmation that the SCA (South Coast Augmentation) pump station had tripped and at present, no water is entering the system.”

He said his team are in high level communication and are assured that both electrical and mechanical teams are working on getting the pump station back on line.

“All reserves at the Toti Water Works have already been depleted. Please use what you have sparingly as there is presently no time frame on the restoration of supply. Updated information will be circulated as received,” said Beetge.
