Man arrested for cable theft in Isipingo

One of two cable theft suspects were successfully arrested by PT Alarms officers and are set to appear in court.

A MAN found with alleged stolen cables at Sykes Road in Isipingo was arrested on January 28.

PT Alarms spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy, said a call was received from a concerned resident who witnessed two men interfering with a substation.

“Immediately, the PT Alarms control centre dispatched the response team, which stood down within minutes. The PT Alarms response officers spotted two men cutting cables. Upon viewing the PT Alarms response officers, the suspects fled. One suspect was successfully apprehended and had in his possession the copper cables,” said Govindasamy.

The suspect was handed over to Isipingo SAPS for further investigations and will appear in court soon.
