Woman hit by train dies in Isipingo

The incident happened at a thoroughfare near the Isipingo railway station.

THE public have been warned to refrain from crossing railway lines through unauthorised crossings after a woman was struck by a train and died in Isipingo on August 28.

PT Alarms’ spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy, said the incident happened at a thoroughfare near the Isipingo railway station, and the PT Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene around 19:00.

“Upon arrival on scene, the PT Ambulance Service crews were confronted with a gruesome scene. The patient had sustained multiple injuries and she was declared deceased at the scene,” said Govindasamy.

He added that security personnel said that many people use the thoroughfare, which connects Wilcox and Mfundi Mngadi Roads.

“PT Ambulance Service would like to urge the public to be vigilant when using thoroughfares. Travel in groups and always be aware of your surroundings,” he said.
