Obituary: Ann Margaret Swart of Amanzimtoti

Ann Margaret was married to author Charles Swart, and the couple had been Amanzimtoti residents since August 1970.

LONG-TIME Amanzimtoti resident Ann Margaret Swart (91) died peacefully at home on the evening of October 23.

She was married to author Charles Swart, and the couple settled in Amanzimtoti in August 1970. She was well known in the community for her involvement in various projects and NPOs, including CROW, the Wildlife and Environment Society of SA, and the SPCA, which she served up until she was 80. She was also a leader in the Scout movement for more than 10 years.

In August 2023, aged 89, she was admitted to Mooi Hawens Residentia after several serious falls. She returned home on October 1, where she enjoyed her last few weeks. She is sorely missed by her family and friends.

Charles said she was a loving wife and mother and an active member of the Amanzimtoti Baptist Church.

Ann’s memorial service will be held at the Amanzimtoti Baptist Church in Bernadotte Street on November 4, at 10:00.
