Rusa said on June 18, Govender accompanied her boyfriend from Port Shepstone to Pietermaritzburg to attend to a truck breakdown.

“While returning, the couple stopped near the Umgababa turn-off on the R102, in the vicinity of the Protea Hotel, after he became too fatigued to continue driving. They parked on the roadside and spent the night in their VW Polo Vivo. The boyfriend stated that he woke up at approximately 06:00 and informed Govender that they would resume their journey at 07:00. When he awoke again a short while later, he discovered that Govender had disappeared from the vehicle and could not locate her,” read the statement.

Govender was dressed in navy shorts, a black top and Adidas sandals. She was also covered with a black blanket at the time she was last seen.

Rusa said Govender’s family members advised that she suffers from a mental illness and is on chronic medication.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is requested to contact Rusa on 086 1234 333.
