Ouch! Fuel price increases confirmed for September
Early estimations pointing to another fuel price hike have came to pass, as confirmed by the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
THERE is bad news for motorists as the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (DPMR) have announced fuel price hikes across the board, in line with predictions from earlier this month.

Official price adjustments will come into effect on September 2.
Price adjustments
- Petrol 93: An increase of R1.34 per litre.
- Petrol 95: An increase of R1.34 per litre.
- Diesel 0.05%: An increase of R2.94 per litre.
- Diesel 0.005%: An increase of R3.15per litre.
- Illuminating Paraffin: An increase of R2.13 per litre.
Prices are adjusted monthly based on local and international factors. Due to ongoing conflict between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, Brent crude oil prices have risen from 82.37USD to 87.88USD.
While the rand appreciated against the dollar from R16.46 to R16.21 during the review period, it was not nearly enough to offset the increases.
