SICELO KHUMALO: “Everything happens for a reason. Maybe schools have tried reaching out to them about rituals that are performed in the school premises but with no luck.”
MANY schools are kicking the churches out of their premises because of certain rituals performed by churches in the premises. COURIER asked how they feel about this?
This is what they had to say:
ALISON ABRAMS: “Churches should be allowed because schools get rent money from them. With that money the school is able to pay or buy school necessities. The school is not for the principal but for the community.”SIBUSISO MADUMA: “Everyone has a right to express themselves but those rights shouldn’t violate someone else’s rights. If the school believes that these rituals are causing unnecessary problems churches need to be kicked out.”THANDO KUBHEKA: “Well I don’t know what to say, but there should be a certain agreement between the two. Because both parties need each other so I believe that an agreement will be reached soon.”JENNIFER ABRAMS: “I think churches should not be chased out. Schools must draft rules and regulations for churches for them to adhere to. Because if churches don’t use the school premises where should they go? So I say churches should remain holding sermons in school premises.”
