LINA PEREIRA: “Being a teacher is all about passion and love, even when there are challenges you can’t pinpoint them because you are blinded by the love for teaching. Maybe the challenge could be my willingness in educating my learners.”
The COURIER asked school teachers in the Southern areas about the challenges they face in classrooms. This is what they had to say:
SHELDON AKERS: “I am more of a trainer than a teacher, one of the challenges is the bad response I get from my trainees.”VATHISWA SINIGENI: “Most of the learners I teach come from a poor background and I sometimes have to sacrifice my lunch. Another thing, as a teacher you always need to smile so learners can relate to you.”DEOLINDA MOLINA: “I am teaching learners who have special needs so one has to try and make them understand what is needed and that requires time which I don’t have. That is my challenge. If I get more time with the learners it could be better.”ADA JEED: “Teaching is something that comes from the heart and even if challenges rise one has to just rub them away. I am doing what I do because I love doing it.”
