ON Tuesday, September 18, the Constitutional Court has officially legalised dagga use in a private capacity.

The RECORD took to the streets to ask the people what they thought of the ruling, whether this was a good or bad and why?

VERONICA SIZANI: “I don’t think it’s good because they will start selling illegal drugs with dagga. This is very dangerous.”
POLLYANNA MUNETSI: “My opinion is that it’s not good; there’s no law anymore and dagga does not sit well with everyone, especially exposing it to children.”
NKOSINATI MABULA: “Dagga is a natural herb. The late Ambrosini was healed by it. It’s use is fine as long as it’s private.”
MDUDUZI NICKEL: “I think it’s a good thing. It helps people with diseases to get better.”
MPO MOFOKENG: “I think it is good news. The only reason it has not been done sooner is because the government can’t get tax from it.”
ONELE NQEKETHO: “I don’t think is right because some people will abuse it and more people will sell it instead of just smoking.”
CHARLENE BLOM: “I don’t agree with the new law as I fear for the lives of our children. You get people who are irresponsible, and they will abuse this.”
