GALLERY: Successful World Trauma Awareness Day held

It was a well-attended and successful day where much knowledge was shared with the local community.

WORLD Trauma Awareness Day took place on October 18 at the Netcare Mulbarton Hospital in Johannesburg South.

There was an array of stalls educating the public on various trauma dangers and how to handle difficult and dangerous situations. Learners from local schools were invited and taught about safety around animals, such as snakes and dogs, and other general dangers they may come in contact with.

The laboratory department educated adults about the importance of regular blood tests, general health and diabetes. Free blood tests were given as well.

The clinical department gave presentations on resuscitation and first aid and the ambulance team were on site to further educate the public.

Mondeor Police Station did a presentation on human and child trafficking, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse and victim empowerment.

Therapy dogs were also at the event, teaching children and adults how to correctly handle dogs and to not fear them.

There were plenty of fun stalls selling food and sweets. It was a well-attended and successful day where much knowledge was shared with the local community.
