Small businesses get practical storage tips from Mambo’s

Gauteng entrepreneurs can get practical workspace tips ahead of the M.E.G.A. Sale, where shoppers could win a Suzuki Swift.

Mambo’s Storage & Home is encouraging Gauteng entrepreneurs and small-business owners to improve workplace organisation through practical storage solutions and better management of everyday supplies.

The initiative forms part of the retailer’s M.E.G.A. (Make Everywhere Great Again) campaign, which focuses on helping households and businesses make better use of their available spaces.

In a statement issued on September 19, Demetre Nikolopoulos, CEO and managing director of Mambo’s, highlighted the challenges businesses face when managing operating costs, replenishing stock and keeping workspaces organised.

He said entrepreneurs could take greater control of their working environments through simple changes, even when dealing with challenges such as power cuts, water interruptions and traffic.

Mambo’s recommends five practical steps to help businesses improve efficiency and reduce the time spent searching for essential items.

  1. Organise everyday supplies

Grouping similar items together, using labelled containers and keeping frequently used supplies within easy reach can help reduce time spent searching for equipment and materials.

  1. Improve stockroom systems

Separating incoming stock from ready-to-use supplies, labelling shelves and creating designated packing and dispatch areas can make it easier to locate products, prepare orders and identify items that need replenishing.

  1. Make home offices more functional

For home-based businesses, drawer organisers, storage boxes and vertical storage can help maximise limited space. Keeping work essentials together and tidying the workspace at the end of the day can also help maintain order.

  1. Monitor essential supplies

Hospitality, catering and cleaning businesses rely on regular access to kitchen supplies, cleaning products and other frequently used items. Monitoring stock levels and planning replenishment can help reduce last-minute shortages.

  1. Establish a daily reset routine

Setting aside five to 10 minutes at the end of each working day to clear surfaces, return items to their designated places and identify supplies that need replenishing can help prevent clutter from accumulating.

According to the retailer, its range includes solutions for home-based packing stations, catering kitchens and cleaning teams, among other business operations.

The company also encourages businesses that regularly purchase everyday essentials to speak to the manager at their nearest store about the possibility of a special deal.

Such arrangements may be discussed depending on the quantity and regularity of monthly purchases, according to the statement.
