Workshop for Day Care Centres

Every department had an opportunity to explain their expectaions from the ECD's.

ROSETTENVILLE: City of Joburg Environmental Health Department hosted an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Workshop on Wednesday September 18 at Southern Suburbs Recreation Centre.

Representatives from each department did a presentation or checklist on what is expected from City Departments when they go out for their inspection or evaluations to day care centres as well as what are the roles and responsibilities of each department.

There were over 250 people of the targeted 180 day care owners from the inner city as well as South of Johannesburg.

David Chamboko from Town Planning Department said their department makes sure the right authorization is given to the right people. “There are a lot of ECDs, some are good and others are trying to make a quick buck. They need to register with relevant authorities and follow proper procedures. We also regulate the number of children to avoid overcrowding,” he said.

Some of the departments who did their presentations were; Town Planning, Environmental Health, JMPD, Social Services, EMS, Health, Pest Management, Urban Management, Cotlands, Pikitup and TLC.
