Water leak battle continues in Alan Manor

The continuous battle to get Constantia Road, Alan Manor re-instated after a water leak repair almost a year ago is still continuing.

ALAN MANOR – First it was the battle between Johannesburg Roads Agency and Joburg water squabbling about whose responsibility is was to attend to the re-instatement, which delayed the original re-instatement until it was decided that it was the ultimate responsibility of Joburg Water.

Well Joburg water then confirmed that they will appoint a contractor to attend to the re-instatement.

“To everybody’s relief the contractor was appointed and started the re-instatement on July 1 and due to the sensitivity of the excavation, as there is a petrol line and some Telkom cables running along this stretch of road for the re-instatement, the contractor started excavations but half way through the process abandoned the site and walked off with allegations of non- payment and therefore would not continue. We have yet to get behind the true story.

“Needless to say the road is now in a bigger and worse mess than it was before, an absolute danger to its users and we cannot seem to get anybody from Joburg Water to inform us about this issue or what the plan is with this road’s re-instatement as it is now over a year that the leak was repaired by Joburg water,” explained Clr (PR) Peter Stewart, Ward 125.
