WATCH: BonFit hosts successful Cancer Awareness Aerobics Bootcamp in South Hills

Joburg South residents get active for a good cause at a cancer awareness fitness event.

BonFit Gym Company hosted its Cancer Awareness Aerobics and Bootcamp on October 24 at the Southrand Recreation Center in South Hills.

Held under the theme ‘Together We Fight’, the event drew a strong turnout from the community and featured a high-energy lineup of fitness sessions including warm-up, hi-impact, hi-lo, box, functional, tyre exercises, stomach workouts, bodycombat, Zumba, bootcamp, dance and cool down.

Bonfit awarded prizes to the first 30 early birds to arrive, while those best dressed in cancer awareness colours were also recognised with prizes, with attendees showing up in pink, blue and other colours in support of the cause.

Coach Bongi Mhlongo, who is also a cancer survivor and advocate, said the event was about more than fitness.

“As a cancer survivor, I know the battle is not just physical but emotional. This aerobics and bootcamp was our way of saying to everyone affected by cancer – you are not alone. Together we fight, together we heal, and through fitness we raise awareness, hope and support,” said Mhlongo.
