Daughter witnesses father’s murder
Father was shot and killed in an attempted hijacking at the car garage of his Mondeor home.
MONDEOR: A father’s good intention to make a fairy tale come to reality for his eight-year-old daughter ended tragically when he was gunned down by hijackers at the garage of his Mondeor home.
Mondeor SAPS reported that on November 13, 46-year-old Thomas Nkosi was shot by three suspects who had ambushed him as he entered the garage of his Mondeor home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Nothing could have prepared Thomas Nkosi’s teenage daughter, who was with him, for what would happen as they made their way back home.
Mr Nkosi and his 16-year-old daughter were returning from a nearby petrol station to get change so that he could act as a tooth fairy for his eight-year-old who had just lost a tooth. His teenage daughter had accompanied him because she had wanted ice-cream.
Reportedly, the criminals had managed to remove Mr Nkosi’s body from the car before attempting to climb in but were very quickly deterred by the teenager who cried out, “They shot Daddy!”; whereby the men panicked and fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.
According to Mrs Nkosi, the teenager jumped out of the abandoned car, ran into the house and locked the door; stating that she doesn’t know where her daughter got the energy and courage to make a run for it.
It has also been confirmed that a case of murder is being investigated in connection with the attempted hijacking although no arrests have been made.
The family is said to still be in shock and are trying to come to terms with their father’s murder.
