BOOYSENS – Over the week of November 4 to 11 there were a total of 67 arrests.
These include: one – bribery, four – theft general, three – possession of unlicensed firearm, three – possession of stolen motor vehicle and 26 arrests for possession of drugs.
Theft of motor vehicle
On Monday November 4 at 02:10, Forest Hill, a complainant alleged that when he parked his vehicle everything was in good order and there was a 100 meter electrical extension cord inside the vehicle. The complainant’s neighbour called and informed him that he saw an unknown person taking the above mentioned item from out of the complainant’s vehicle and he had caught him. The neighbour asked the complainant to check if the electrical extension is his. The complainant went to his car and agreed that the extension was indeed his. Booysens SAPS were contacted and the suspect was arrested.
Assault Grievous Bodily Harm
On November at 13:40 a complainant was at a house in Turffontein area when he was assaulted by a person known to him. He opened a case and the suspect was arrested the following day.
Illegal possession of unlicensed firearm
Thursday November 7 at 16:00, members from Crime Prevention Office posted at Booysens SAPS were patrolling in West Turffontein when they noticed a white Toyota Tazz with four unknown males sitting inside it. The members tried to stop the vehicle and the driver ignored them, driving away recklessly, at high speed and refusing to stop. The members managed to stop the vehicle along Turf Club. One suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran away. The members apprehend three suspects. Upon searching the vehicle the members noticed a silver revolver firearm with serial number filed off. The suspects were arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and were taken to Booysens SAPS.
Possession of dagga
On Saturday November 9, members from Booysens Crime Prevention were on duty patrolling Main Street. On the corner of Main and Andrews streets, they stopped an unknown male and ask for permission to search him. The suspect agree and when he was searched, the members found three small plastic bag containing dagga.
