What to do about service problems

Most residents do not know the proper protocol of reporting sluggish or faulty municipal services

JOHANNESBURG – Dear residents, our news team wishes to inform you about the proper procedures of reporting municipal related problem. Following a few simple steps you will definitely save money, time and energy – and probably save yourself from endless stress.

It was acknowledged that most of our readers do not know the proper protocol of reporting sluggish or faulty municipal services. And knowing this could save you a headache.

Let’s help each other build healthy and safe communities. Improving service delivery starts with you as an individual, not whatever government office is responsible. Therefore, should you have electricity, water, crime, potholes, a leaking meter, long grass or illegal dumping problems, first report the matter to City Power at 011 375 5555 or 0860 562 874.

A programmed voice will then instruct you on which number to press depending on your enquiry. Then you will be transferred to a consultant, who will give you a reference number and a date when they will send people to help.

From there, should you not see anything being done to deal with your problem, you can report the matter to your local councilor or call our newspaper. That is where we come in; we will be able to help you because you will now be holding a reference number, which proves that the city has failed to help you.

In most cases City Power will readily help you and in this way we will be able to perceive our service delivery as an improving service rather than a failing service. Remember, when you see a piece of paper on the road, you can always just pick it up.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
