South Hills burst pipes to be dealt with

Johannesburg water to help

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – After the COURIER investigated frequent burts water pipes in The South Hills from one traffic light to another at Southern Klipriviersberg Road, Johannesburg Water would like to assure residents that the matter is being looked at.

People have already noticed heavy work being done by Johannesburg Water to make sure that water interruptions due to burst water pipes are avoided.

“The bursts that have previously occurred have not happened on the same line, though its been in the same vicinity.

“I think its also important to highlight that there were some bursts that belonged to Rand Water. On our part its a matter of wear and tear, which is a common cause of burst pipes we experience.

“When we identify frequent bursts in a particular street, we conduct an investigation to check whether the line warrants a complete replacement or the line just needs to be closely monitored by the teams. This line is not at a stage where it cannot be managed, and is not old enough to be immediately replaced. Constant monitoring will ensure that when the line is due for replacement it is done timeously.

“We try our best to respond to issues brought to our attention within reasonable times, and we give residents many options to contact us,” said Millicent Kabwe of Johannesburg Water.
