City Power gets a piece of cake
As much as we have the right to complain, we also have the responsibility to compliment good work.
JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – City Power staff at Booysens were overwhelmed when a man, who once had a feud with them, came back to thank them after they delivered on their promise.
Dheenadhayalan Pillay from Unigray was receiving excessive bills, and could not understand why, as he felt the amounts due were more than what they should have been.
He went to their office where they assisted him, quite professionally, although he was angry and frustrated. He was promised that his account statements would be corrected after several months, and at last his patience paid off.
On Thursday June 19, he bought a cake for the staff to share as a symbol of his respect for their hard work and dedication.
“I too work in the public sector, so I know exactly how it is to have many people angry at you when they have problems. I can understand that, so I do this to show the staff of City Power that their efforts do not go unnoticed.
“As much as we have the right to complain, we also have the responsibility to compliment when we have received the help we sought.
“It is easy for people to complain, so I just wanted to take my time and not complain, but compliment the staff, because they do a good job and help many people,” Dheenadhayalan said happily.
Operations Manager Ruth Mpele and Customer Relations Agent Kenneth Morris said: “This is what motivates us and make us want to continue to help people. We are happy the image of the council gets uplifted when we strive for excellence.”
