Woman shot dead in attempted hijacking

A docket of murder has been opened as circumstances surrounding the shooting are still to be investigated.

ORMONDE: A woman was shot dead in an attempted hijacking near McDonald, Crownwood Road, Ormonde on Monday night August 4.

According to an eye witness a white Quantum with no rear registration was involved, the woman was driving SUV.

Booysens Police were on the scene.

Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik confirmed the shooting:

On August 4 at 18:30, member of Booysens SAPS received a call of a shooting that had taken place in the Ormonde area.

Upon arrival they noticed a White VW Tiguan in the street. The members were approached by a paramedic on the scene who said that the victim had passed away.

A docket of murder has been opened as circumstances surrounding the shooting are still to be investigated.
