BMW destroyed as suspects escape

Suspects cause mayhem as they flee the scene of a hijacking.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – A silver BMW hijacked on the morning of October 9, was badly damaged after it smashed into another vehicle at a traffic light as suspects fled the scene on October 9.

The collision of the vehicles resulted in the driver of the hijacked BMW losing control, sending the car crashing into a street light pole, yanking the power cables to the ground, before it smashed a wall down.

Booysen’s SAPS Communications Officer, Lorraine Van Emmerik, said the silver BMW had been hijacked before 06:00 in the morning in Turffontein and suspects were fleeing the scene, when they crashed into a passing vehicle.

Two suspects emerged from the crashed vehicle and climbed into a silver Polo, which was driven by their accomplices, leaving chaos behind.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the hijacked vehicle, escaped while the BMW was abandoned in the street.

It is undetermined how many suspects were involved; however, Booysens police is investigating.

The incident took place in Ridgeway a few metres from a high school and a busy supermarket.
