At a media briefing on Monday, August 10, at the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), Lesufi revealed findings of a forensic report after an investigation was launched on allegations of budget tampering and recruitment irregularities among other charges.

The forensic investigation, conducted by KPMG, was commissioned after whistle-blowers alerted the department about allegations of corruption at the school. It was then uncovered that various alleged practices, which could be construed as extreme financial mismanagement and improper governance practices, had taken place.
The revelations were as follows:
- The operating of more than one bank account without approval from the department; the school’s financial records and bank statements not reconciling;
- Irregularly opening an investment account without the approval of the GDE and individuals benefiting financially from the account;
- payments made for levies for an individual’s holiday home, installation of a carport and hunting fees using the school’s staff loan account;
- and purchasing air travel tickets for an individual’s private use using the school’s bank account.
