Elandspark residents meet their neighbours

Residents are encouraged to contact Clr Chame if they wish to start a similar initiative in their own area.

ELANDSPARK – residents had a wonderful opportunity to meet their neighbours during the second annual meet and greet your neighbour day held on Saturday, September 5.

The meet and greet sported food stalls and jumping castles for the children who enjoyed ice cream, fruit and vegetables, Durban style bunny chows, Zuma dancing and tug of war.

Elandspark residents started this initiative last year and decided to make it an annual occasion.

“I noticed that the residents of Elandspark take pride in their area. They have formed an association, Members of Elandspark (MOE), to care for the patrollers of the area and to organise events. I also saw real unity and Ubuntu at the meet and greet. I would like to encourage other areas to take this idea and to start similar events in their own neighbourhoods,” said DA ward 57 Councillor, Faeeza Chame.

Security companies and Pikitup were also on board and spoke to the residents about keeping their area clean and safe.

Residents are encouraged to contact Clr Chame on 082 5184 375 or e-mail faychame@hotmail.com if they wish to start a similar initiative in their own area.
