JOHANNESBURG – With ArchitectureZA 2015 (AZA2015) taking place from September 24 to 26 in the heart of Johannesburg, a key event not to miss is the AZA2015 tours on September 26. Experience the wonder of South African architecture and design in Gauteng with exclusive tours to historic landmarks.
The AZA2015 tours will highlight South Africa’s architecture and design as never seen before. Experience the commercial, rural and urban design landmarks which helped form Jozi to be the incredible city it is today.
Residents can enjoy the Open Spaces Walking Tour, Chinatown Walking Tour, Johannesburg Modern Tour, Johannesburg Style Tour, Johannesburg Retail Tour, JoburgPlaces Tour and Johannesburg Cultural Heritage Tour.
“Jozi’s architecture and design has a fantastic story to tell. These AZA2015 tours will transport attendees back to the beginnings of the city and learn how it has transformed to be what it is today – a city with a great vibe and a reflection of what future cities in South Africa will look like,” says Daniel van der Merwe, Architect and Marketing at PPC and President of GIfA.
The Johannesburg Modern Tour will give attendees a glimpse into modern architecture and design. Some of the places that will be visited include the Brazilian inspired White Mosaic Innes Chambers, Marble Towers and the 20th Floor Observation Deck at Ansteys Building.
The Johannesburg Style Tour will show the origins of Johannesburg with a visit to Beyers Naude Square.
The Johannesburg Retail Tour will discover the old retail districts such as Eloff Street and the iconic Cuthberts and Markhams buildings.
Gerald Garner will be the guide for the JoburgPlaces Tour, a walking tour from Western Edge to Gandhi Square.
The Fietas Museum, a public heritage site will be visited during the Johannesburg Cultural Heritage Tour focusing our multi-cultural community.
