Residents receive dignified homes

The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) has invested over R200-million in the City Deep social housing project.

CITY of Johannesburg’s Clr Faeeza Chame handed over keys to new homeowners, who took possession of their new and dignified flat units in City Deep, on Tuesday, September 1.

The MMC of Housing, Daniel Bovu, was present to handover keys to residents who were grateful to move into the units, that are adequate to live in with children.

“The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) has invested over R200-million in the City Deep social housing project. This multi-million development of City Deep has resulted in new family units, consisting of 122 one-bedroom and 216 two-bedroom flats, explained a proud Clr Chame.

City Deep is located near taxi routes and is a five-minute drive from the Johannesburg CBD, making it a convenient place for residents to live.

“I believe that owning a house is a basic right that restores one’s dignity and humanity. However, as a new owner you also have a responsibility to pay for your municipal services so that the place can be well maintained and remain in a good condition,” Chame added.
